the big day to plan the event from

the lighting to the venue and

everything in between.

Debra Hiebert has been the founder, creative director and lead event designer of Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design for the past 13 years. She said she takes pride in planning unique events. One of her weddings included a Cinderella carriage complete with footmen and horses and another was televised on the show, “Platinum Weddings.” Her events have been featured in numerous publications and on KCRA Channel 3 and Fox 40.

How did you get involved in the business?

I was throwing a family member a birthday party in May of 1998 and booked 12 events from June through December of 1998 from that sole birthday event. It was an amazing ride that continues today.

What are some of the most interesting things that have happened to you?

The highlight for me this year was actually having Hollywood celebrities, Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren, in attendance at one of my clients’ weddings at The Biltmore Santa Barbara.

I also met Cal Ripken on a flight to Colorado. He kept telling me he was a pro-baseball player. Who names their son Cal for heaven’s sake? I never even heard of the Orioles. It sounded like a box of morning boxed cereal to me. When our plane landed a couple of small boys came running up to him asking for his autograph. It was hilarious.

I meet Kenny Loggins with veggie pizza in my mouth. That was nice. My favorite though was having a conversation with Clint Eastwood about his old movie “Paint Your Wagon,” again another hilarious moment in my life. It was me and Andrew McCarthy outside a cafe in Southern California.

Wherever I go, I am surrounded by humorous doings and I find humor in all situations in my life, positive or negative. That’s just how I roll. I simply roll in humor.

What are your favorite books?

One of my favorite reads a few decades back was Pillars of the Earth. It’s similar to the details you find in a vintage Dickens novel — chapters of details and layers in the novels just in building the scene, place, storyline and characters.

I adore anything Austen for it resonates with the walking romantic that I am. Robert Ludlum wrote the fabulous thrilling page-turner. My heart paces each time I pick up one of his suspense novels.

Do you give back to the community?

I had volunteered for several years in Pebble Beach/Monterey for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I now pretty much have my sights set on anything that involves the neglect and abuse of animals. In particular, dogs & horses.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

Anything that keeps me outdoors and away from technology: A game of tennis, walking, hiking the wonderland of Yosemite and Tahoe and any beach front from the Pebble Beach Peninsula down to Southern California and beyond the border.

Tell us about your family.

I’m married the most amazing man in the Western Hemisphere — in the globe for that matter. I swear (but won’t) he should wear a cape half the time. He is just that good of a man. My own super hero. He saved me as well as our three precious pups: black lab, beagle and chihuahua. They have all saved me in their own way. They have shown me unconditional love. All humans can take a few cues from doggies any day of the week.

What are you most proud of?

The legacy of being involved in these young couples love story and assisting them in building the foundation their marriage is built upon through my work in weddings.

I always like to remind them, that in the end when this wedding day is done and over, it is truly about the ceremony everyone is uniting together around them and not the most perfect color of petal pink.

It’s about what they say, do, sing, and recite as we are gathered amongst them this day as their witnesses as they pledge themselves to each other, for forever through all the peaks and valleys this life offers each of us. Again, I am such a hopeless romantic. In 13 years, I only know of three of my couples divorcing. I was heart-broken for each couple when news reached me.

What causes are you passionate about?

Anything that involves animals and small children. Both are defenseless without our help and love. It’s that simple.

What are some things about you people might be surprised to learn?

I completely miss skateboarding, horseback riding and playing massive amounts of softball. Only to be 12 again. I also love Bach to Muse, bluegrass to rock, and R&B to jazz to mad metal. Classical and vintage jazz are my favorites.

I am currently going through a Schubert and DeBussy faze. I adore all music for I associate life with it. Music assisted me in the loss of my little brother almost 21 years ago and recently my beloved Daddy and my best friend’s mother, whom was like my own mom since I was 14.

Music is wondrous. It helps make you a survivor in this world. Music does assist in healing ones soul. Music brings joy. Again, I adore music. Seriously, you should see my iTunes listing. It’s slightly insane.

Mary & Paul ~ A Philadelphia Love Story in Sacramento

Paul & Mary Luu reside in Sacramento, California. For their chosen professions, Paul is an Anesthesiologist and Mary is a Clinical Pharmacist. They both love to travel, experience different cultures, and try new foods.

How They Met

Mary and Paul met through a mutual friend when they were both living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for school. They did not date at the time, but kept in touch throughout the years. They didn't start dating until four years later, when he was in his final year of anesthesia residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and she had already moved back to California. They had a long distance relationship until he graduated from residency and moved back to California.

The Engagement

For their one-year anniversary of dating, Paul took Mary to Hawaii. She didn't really suspect anything until the day he was going to propose. She had gotten herself a fun costume jewelry ring from the Chanel boutique as a souvenir of their trip, while shopping earlier that day. When she showed it to him he said, "That's not a ring!" He said it a few more times, and that's when she got a tiny bit suspicious. He didn't propose at dinner though, so then she forgot about it.

After dinner that night they went for a walk on the beach. He picked a spot in the sand to sit down and watch the ocean in the moonlight. He then asked if he could see the ring that she had bought that day, because he wanted to get a better look at it. After looking at it again he said, "That's not a ring....(long pause)…THIS is a ring!" He then pulled out a box with the engagement ring, and asked Mary if she would marry him! It truly WAS a ring, and she quickly took off the Chanel ring so that he could put the new engagement ring onto her finger. He proposed to Mary with a beautiful 2.5-carat center stone on a platinum band. He then explained all of the research that he had put into choosing the perfect ring, regarding clarity, cut, color, table depth ratio, culet, and all of these things about a diamond that she had never even heard of before. She was extremely impressed.

The Wedding

Their wedding was on December 18, 2010 in Sacramento, California. They had a traditional Vietnamese ceremony in the morning, where the groom's side of the family comes to the bride’s house. His side of the family lined up in a procession in front of her house before coming in, and then presented red trays of gifts that contained jewelry for the bride and wine, tea, fruits, and cookies for her family. Over 100 of their "closest" family members, on both her side and Paul's side, came to her house for the ceremony. It is customary for the groom's side to then bring the bride back to the groom's house, but since his house was far away, they brought the ceremony to the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento, and that represented the groom's house. The ceremony was held in the Capitol Room, which overlooked the California State Capitol. They had a tea ceremony and then had a wedding lunch. The wedding reception in the evening was held at the Asian Pearl restaurant. Their guests were treated to a 10-course dinner, open bar, and entertainment by Mary’s favorite famous Vietnamese singer, Y Lan. Mary’s mom flew Y Lan and her entourage up from southern California to perform at the reception.

Interesting Tidbits:

For their Honeymoon, Mary and Paul went to: Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Malta.

Wedding Day Shoes: Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent. Mary bought her blue Louboutin wedding shoes months before even picking out her wedding dress! When she saw this pair in blue, she absolutely knew that those would be her "something blue.”

Dear Debra ~

I wanted to send you a note of appreciation for all you did to help make Lindsay & Jeff’s wedding a dream come true.

The whole day was so amazing!

I felt that their ceremony was particularly meaningful and intimate, the cocktail hour lovely and relaxed, dinner delicious, and the party. . . . fun, fun, fun!

Ken and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry’s florals were incredibly beautiful and the rose petal ceremony aisle exquisite. Dominic Fournier of Extreme Productions did a fantastic job as their DJ and Master of Ceremonies, Christina Addegio of Catta Verdera Country Club was a wonderful wedding coordinator, Cindi & Lorenzo Bartone of CinZo Celebration Photography captured the day beautifully and made us all so relaxed and Esther Aguirre of Divine Desserts by Aguirre’s cake was beautiful and delicious. BUT none of this would have run smoothly, would of been so perfect, be beyond stunning without you overseeing the entire flow and design for their wedding day.

Everything flowed beautifully and seamlessly. I am forever grateful for that . . . I did not worry about one thing all day. I just enjoyed ever second with my daughter and my family.

I also must tell you how stunning the reception room looked! I am so thankful Ken and I had our own ‘reveal’ of the wedding reception room. Your attention to the details was amazing. The tables were set perfectly. The Head Table and the Fireplace were designed amazingly beautiful & we loved the cake table ~ we LOVED everything. The room was just transformed into an exceptionally lovely and romantic setting.

We received many, many compliments! I know It was a lot of hard work, but I hope you enjoyed the day also. ;)

I know how busy you are, but perhaps you can find time to meet for coffee or lunch sometime. Let me know.

The Girl Who Got Married in the Glass Castle

Celebrates Five Years of Marriage

When Eva stumbled across Fred on the sofa in her college apartment, she didn’t anticipate this stranger would one day be calling her Ladybug. Actually, she was a little annoyed her roommate had agreed to let this colleague (who resembled “Shaggy” from Scooby Doo) camp out a few nights. Little did she know, Fred would become a friend, a boyfriend, and five years later, a wonderful husband.

When it was time to plan their special day, Eva and Fred knew that living in San Francisco and planning a wedding in southern California would be challenging. The couple met with Debra Hiebèrt from Très Fabu Event Planning and Design to discuss their ideas.

“After our initial meeting with Debra, we both agreed she would be a good match for us for several reasons,” says Eva. “Fred really appreciated her respect for our faith. I also felt that she envisioned what I had in mind, and I also remember how easy it was to communicate with her despite just meeting her. Nothing felt forced and I could tell that she was ready and willing to make our dream wedding come true.”

“I remember when Eva slid the box across the table to me during our initial meeting,” says Debra. “She asked me to design her wedding with the beach in mind, but wrapped around the concept of the Tiffany & Co. box that her actual engagement ring came in. I loved it and was truly inspired by the entire idea.”

September 23rd, 2006 was indeed a dream come true for the couple. They were married in the magnificent Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove and were chauffeured to their reception at The Montage Resort in Laguna Beach in a white vintage 1937 Packer complete with a champagne toast!

About 120 guests attended the ceremony and reception with the beautiful bride and groom. Eva was stunning in an Italian silk gown with hundreds of hand-stitched Swarovski crystals and a handmade veil that had been special ordered by her father.

“I felt very special and blessed the minute I got into my dress,” says Eva. “I remember the private moment that my mom and I shared as she helped me get dressed. I was looking into the mirror as she lifted the heavy material behind me to extend my dress and veil. I can actually remember the sound of the material and how quiet the room was. No words were exchanged, except for a prayer before she started to cry.”

The colors of the day were Tiffany blue, platinum, and white. Dinner tables were draped in aqua linens, the chairs all had white slipcovers, and each chair had a bow on the back, reminiscent of a Tiffany & Co. jewelry box. The design team at Wildflower Linen died the satin fabric of the overlay linens to match the Tiffany & Co. box perfectly and they were complete with matching Swarovski crystals to tie in with Eva's gown.

“The lighting was perfect,” says Eva. “I remember blues and whites. It was all very elegant and classic.”

For the two-hour cocktail event held at The Montage Resort’s appropriately named 'Oceanfront Lawn' overlooking the lovely Pacific ocean, Debra designed in whites and rhinestones, giving guests a glimpse of what was to come in the ballroom for the glorious reception (also inspired by Eva’s gown).

There were several different types of fresh seafood served — oysters on the half shell, jumbo prawns, and four sushi chefs preparing authentic and fresh sushi right in front of the guests! Adult libations during the cocktail event and throughout the remainder of the wedding celebration included: 1996 Dom Perignon, 2003 Duckhorn Vineyards, Far Niente, Heitz Cellars, and Domain Drouhin.

For dinner, guests had their choice of several dishes, including a rack of lamb, filet mignon, chicken, and lobster bisque. Everyone enjoyed an ice cream bar! But there’s always room for cake…

The couple chose to have two wedding cakes. One was very traditional and the other was designed by Eva. It had a ladybug and a frog on it (their nicknames for each other our Ladybug & Frogger) and was created by The Montage Resort lead pastry chef from a picture that Eva had drawn for Fred while they were dating.

J & M Entertainment played all the classics throughout the evening (Sinatra, Bobby Darin, etc.) and also included a few 1940s Cuban songs by Carmen Delia that Eva grew up listening to. This is when Eva’s mother began to cry, again, and thanked her. They are her mother’s favorite tunes.

“One thing I remember Debra telling me was how important it was to take mental pictures because it was all going to happen incredibly fast, and she was right,” says Eva. “I only remember a whirlwind of blurry images of that morning as I was getting ready, but I can clearly remember all the different smells and sounds. I can still hear Sade playing through the speakers. However, one thing that stands out is walking to the lobby of The Montage and hearing the limos coming in, and Fred’s dad saying ‘That’s for you, Eve. Saddle up!’”

A four-year-old girl who attended the wedding still refers to Eva as “the girl who got married in the glass castle.”

As the couple celebrates 5th Wedding Anniversary, they also recently made another dream come true and bought a house by the beach that they share with their two Westies, Winston and Tails. Fred is preparing himself to start his own business. Eva just got her Master’s in stem cell research. They live just miles from The Montage Resort & Spa and the beach, and each time they drive on Pacific Coast Highway to go to school or work, it reminds them that their special day was not just a dream ~ but a blissful reality created by Debra Hiebert of Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design and her team of stellar professional vendors.

The Sheraton Grand Sacramento ~ Celebrating 10 Wonderful Years in Style!

Dear Dream Makers ~

Mr. and Mrs. Thiers are successfully off and at this moment in the air on their way to Italy and we want to thank you for making their dream wedding become a reality.

Debra, the Ballroom looked spectacular and gorgeous and simply magical. The lighted hedges added so much more than we could have envisioned!

Shelley (Floral Artistry), the florals (all of them, from the elegant urn arrangements down to the little flower girl head wreath) were so absolutely perfect and gorgeous! As I told Debra, it was all I could do to keep from crying at having to leave them when we headed home at the end of the night! Katie's bouquet was the most beautiful we have ever seen. Thankfully, we know that we have them documented by the best photographer and videographer for us to enjoy in pictures forever. Matt (Extreme Productions), everyone had so much fun and we have you to thank for that. Our officiant, Grandpa Bill, was so impressed with your professionalism and the way you made him feel comfortable and ready to go; and everyone loved your outgoing and friendly personality. Esther (Divine Desserts by Aguirre), the wedding cake was fabulous!! Just fabulous!! Again, I am so glad we will have pictures of it to keep forever. And it was absolutely delicious. The groom's cake was a complete hit with Sean and with everyone else at the rehearsal dinner. It was so perfectly what we hoped it would be - so fun and so delicious. Jessica (SacBallroom), you were always so helpful and available, and we would like to thank you again for that; and please tell Jeremy that our guests raved about the deliciousness of both the appetizers and the dinner selections, and it was obvious to anyone watching the guests dancing that they certainly enjoyed the cocktails which were presented beautifully by your bartenders. Phill (Phillip Alan Films), you and our bride and groom "hit it off" so well when you met just before the wedding.

We already knew your work would be fabulous, and with the interests and likes it turns out that you share, we are even more excited to see the wedding video than we were before they met you. (Especially after watching your assistant scale the walls of the Ballroom to get the over head sparkler shot!).

It’s not everyday that you meet a bride and groom who both fly C-17s for the United States Air Force. This 174 ft. aircraft is used for rapid strategic airlift of troops and cargo and can also perform tactical airlift, medical evacuation, and airdrop missions.

But on June 5th, 2010, Ben and Molly had a much different mission: to become husband and wife, and to celebrate this unity among family and friends in a beautiful ceremony.

“I wish I could do it all over again,” says Molly, remembering the special day at Northridge Country Club in Fair Oaks, California. “I loved everything about it!”

One hundred and fifty guests, including a bridal party of ten bridesmaids and ten groomsmen, gathered at the country club at 6:30 p.m. to witness the joining of families. Reverend Ed Donaghy (revedweddings.vpweb.com) performed a nondenominational Christian ceremony, which included a handfasting ceremony while the couple promised their vows. Tank, the couple’s English Bulldog, had a very important role as the ringbearer!

Wearing a Priscilla of Boston gown, Molly made her entrance down the aisle of white rose petals. Her dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline, a ruched bodice, and a modified A-line skirt.

“I have never felt more beautiful than I did that day!” says Molly.

[Molly] The wedding literally could not be done without Debra and Très Fabu Events. I lived in Seattle at the time, Ben lived in Oklahoma, and my mom was the only person actually in Sacramento. While I was deployed, my mom and sister researched wedding planners and fell in love with Debra.

Debra and her team were always professional, and made me feel like a queen. Debra listened to all my ideas and offered fantastic suggestions to help me create a beautiful atmosphere. Black was the main color used, incorporated in the table decorations, the chairs, the cake, the bridal party, the flowers (by Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry, www.floralartistrybyshelley.com)…white and champagne colors accented the black very nicely…but it was not too overdone.

The couple shares many fond memories of dancing to the music that was performed by Pop Fiction (an 8-piece "party band extraordinaire”) during the reception. Their first dance was to “This Kind of Love” by Sister Hazel; Molly danced with her father to “I hope you dance”; with her mother to “My Girl”; and was hoisted in the air, along with her hubby, during “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.
“After seeing how wonderful it is to have a wedding planner [Très Fabu Event Planning and Design], I will always advise my friends to hire Debra and her team,” says Molly. “I felt so calm and reassured knowing there was someone who cared about my wedding as much as I did.”

Ben and Molly honeymooned in Playa del Carmen for a week and had a wonderful time. After four years of long distance (including their first year of marriage), the couple moved to Charleston, South Carolina and is enjoying their time together. They are so thankful for such a beautiful wedding and the support and love of their friends and family.

Seanna and Garrett — A Vintage Romance With a Modern Day Twist

The Theme
Seanna described the vision of her wedding as shabby, elegant, whimsy, and vintage… with a dash of girly-girl!

The Venue
The Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento, California is a boutique hotel known for its fabulous ‘rat pack’ forties charm! The venue was perfect; it had the rustic brick and the black grilled framed windows Seanna adored, coupled with the soft, permanent fabric-lined rooftop on the hotel’s Metropolitan Terrace. A truly perfect backdrop.

The Decor

A table with past wedding pictures from many family members welcomed the guests when they came off the elevators. This table also had a fabulous hat from the early 80s that Seanna’s mother wore on her wedding day. It received many wild comments!
A vintage frame from the 40s with a welcome sign was hanging in a tall iron birdcage stand; another table had a vintage chandelier donned with candles in silver fleur-de-lis candleholders.
A Wedding Wishes book from the 40s, laden with pearls; a tall stand filled with little pearls; a crown; and a silver tray with S&G tags underneath a dome of glass.
“Thank You” paddles and an "S&G" sign was hung over the bar on a vintage mirror.
Heart-shaped escort cards were showcased during the cocktail hour to direct guests to their dinner table.
Wooden table numbers had been created by the bride with supplies from local craft stores in Portland, Oregon. Utilizing her love of paper, she found scrapbook paper pieces (different in their patterns but similar in the color palate) and she painted all the wooden numbers and wooden frames in white, and assembled them all together. They truly added a perfect element of charm to each table.
The wedding menus were handwritten and greeted each guest when they found their table. Simple and charming.
The champagne linens on the tables had a creamy damask pattern running throughout that served as a wonderful base for the various pink, cream, and white florals of different heights—these arrangements were placed in vintage mercury glass containers, some new and some old. Soft pink satin napkins and silver chivari chairs, which tied in with the floral containers, complemented the table linens.

The Flowers
The flowers encompassed her love of pinks (some soft and brighter hues), creams, and whites; all in both new vintage silver looking vases and actual vintage vases. Her bouquet was tied in vintage lace and modern day satin ribbon, with a vintage pearl broach and a picture of her and her sweet Dad. He unfortunately lost his four year battle to cancer a few months after hiring our Tres Fabu Events entourage and the whole wedding team took to Seanna with extra “wedding wings” to carry her through to the day.

The Cake
Seanna’s inspirational image for the cake design was all pink — bright pinks, pink feathers, pink everything. Debra (Très Fabu Events) took this design and reworked it. She added more cream color into the concept of the cake, cream diamond tufts, pink flowers, a vintage crown jewel from the 20s, and jewel pieces to make it slightly more appropriate for a wedding. Debra kept in mind Seanna’s vision of “shabby/elegant/whimsy/vintage/with a dash of girly-girl,” as she would state throughout the planning process to everyone involved. Each side of the cake had a double handled vintage silver tray with two apothecary jars filled with various candies (all in pink), and silver organza bags for the guests to fill to their hearts desire.

A woman named Anna Akhmatova once said, “Italy is a dream that keeps returning for the rest of your life."

At Viaggio Winery in Lodi, California, miles and miles from the small towns of Italy, a couple’s dream of an Italian/Versaille inspired wedding came to life. For Brent and Jillian Meinyer, this type of wedding was a vision they shared—but the couple had no idea how perfect and real it could become on the breezy summer evening of June 19.

“Every minute and detail was crisply carried out to our benefit by Debra and her whole ‘Dream Team,’” says Jillian. “They can take your lives and pick out so many moments that they know will mean the world to you later.”

The private estate, surrounded by vineyards, orchards, and the Mokelumne River, set the romantic feel for the evening…while Très Fabu and the amazing vendors that were selected for this day each played an important part in executing the fabulous event.

“We based the entire wedding off of Jillian’s original color palate of champagnes, ivories, soft apricots and a dash of petal pink,” says Debra Hiebèrt, owner of Très Fabu. “Then when she found the gown of her dreams—that's when I went into overdrive design—and launched off of Shelley's florals as well.”

Shelley McArdle from Floral Artistry started her design based on a single photo that Jillian had selected. From there, she created elegant and vintage arrangements…roses and hydrangeas were used abundantly, and shiny ribbons and sparkly rhinestones added a perfect touch to the flowers. Each flower girl and junior bridesmaid carried her own purse made purely of flowers!

“Shelly is such an amazing person,” says Jillian. “She really stretched every dollar to make the most outstanding floral arrangements that we have ever seen. She made us feel like we were the most special people on earth.”

Brent’s black Armani tuxedo was complemented by a calla lily boutonniere with rhinestones. And then came the bride, who according to her new husband, “…absolutely knocked everyone out with how stunningly beautiful she looked!”

In a strapless, ivory gown that truly captured the romance of the evening, Jillian held a bouquet of light pink and cream roses, and cream calla lilies, and made her way down an aisle covered in pink and cream rose petals arranged in a swirl design.

“When she first saw her bouquet, she [Jillian] was in aw…she kept saying ‘this is just so beautiful,’” says McArdle.

Pastor Kevin Brown from Lodi met the beautiful Bride and Groom at the altar. Beforehand, he asked the couple to come up with five reasons to marry each other, and planned on including them in the ceremony. To their amusement, he repeated the reasons almost word for word—keeping the ceremony fun, meaningful, and most of all, memorable.

After the pronouncement of husband and wife, Jillian and Brent had a fun surprise for the crowd. “At the end of our ceremony—Brent has always been a long time Indiana Jones fan—so we played the theme music as we made our way down the aisle together on our new adventure as newlyweds,” says Jillian.

Everyone was shocked when an aerial confetti streamer launched as well! “They were crying and laughing…it was the perfect touch by Matt at Extreme Productions,” says Jillian.

Extreme Productions created a customized entertainment and production company for the entire event…each song was hand selected, personalized bridal party introductions were created, and the soundtrack for each scene had an energy and feel that was reflective of the moment. There was even a 3D moon projection on the wall near the cake (Jillian’s request)!

“As soon as we secured services with Brent and Jillian, we went right to work on getting to know their personality, their story, their interests, style, and taste,” says Matt Brys from Extreme Productions. “From there, we were able to build out the ‘experience’ of the day (the music, energy, MC work, lighting, production, announcements, etc… and we added in extra flair with lighting and confetti cannons for that WOW factor!”

An indoor reception followed the ceremony, with beautiful candlelit tables, gold plates, and gold chairs. Guests enjoyed catering provided by Viaggio Winery, which included several appetizers, filet mignon, shrimp, portobello mushroom, and lamb. The fabulous meal was followed by Divine Desserts’ scrumptious three-tiered ivory cake, with details of ivory roses around each layer.

Brent and Jillian started the dancing for the night with “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. With the moon projected in the background, and the lighting dark and intimate, the couple was truly “Dancin' in the dark, middle of the night, takin' your heart and holdin' it tight…”

Capturing all the special moments, from the private glances between the newly married couple to the fun and glory of the night, was Cinzo Photography. “We could not believe the amount of detail and thought that was put into taking each shot,” says Brent. “They went above and beyond for us!”

As the day is now a precious memory for the couple (and also was captured in detail by Thomas Hughes Video) Brent and Jillian are both very pleased with their decision to hire a wedding planner. “It was most important for us, as the Bride and Groom, to truly enjoy our day, our love, our way... and it was worth the extra amount of money to have someone else carry the burden of the minor details,” says Brent.

If there was just one word to describe how they felt that day? Overjoyed…that they had a tremendous amount of family and friends to share in their enjoyment and love, and overjoyed with one another as absolute soul mates.

Matt Brys agrees that this day was perfect in everyway. “Très Fabu spent countless hours ensuring she [Debra] knew the vibe and feel of the client and designed a masterpiece that made Brent and Jillian speechless,” says Brys.

According to Brent and Jillian, “You’re not getting married if you’re not ‘Très Fabu’”!!

As Très Fabu Event Planning and Design approaches its mega April 23rd wedding, which will take place at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills, California with 250 guests, the wedding planner would like to share a sneak peak of the evening’s napkin rings — which were recently revealed on TV in Los Angeles!

Brian Worley, wedding planner for “Shedding for the Wedding” on the CW Television Network, showed KTLA viewers the dazzling custom napkin rings that were designed by Wildflower Linen specifically for Très Fabu Event's upcoming wedding for clients Kasie and Thomas, along with the fabulous mother of the bride, Jann Bytheway. The wedding will feature an array of blues, platinums, blacks, and whites, and the napkin rings will definitely add a sparkle to each table!

Worley was invited by KTLA to give his version of what the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will look like. The napkin rings are a replica of the oval, 18-carat sapphire and diamond ring once belonging to Princess Diana that has now been passed down to Kate as her engagement ring.

Justin and Alissa One Year Later

As Justin and Alissa Creel approach their one-year anniversary, the couple is excited to retell the events that made their wedding so priceless. The evening of April 17, 2010 was a magical night for them. At Wine and Roses in Lodi, California, the couple celebrated their love and unity among 160 friends and family.

The design of this beautiful spring wedding (by Très Fabu) consisted of pinks, browns, and creams throughout the flowers, linens, programs, and apparel. Alissa wore a strapless, classis A-line dress that was simple and elegant, with a bubble hem on the bottom that “made her look like she was floating.” Justin was stunning in a single button tuxedo with a white vest and a white tie. Bridesmaids were in pink; groomsmen in brown vests and ties.

The couple chose to have a modern, non-denominational Protestant ceremony that lasted about 20 minutes. Pastor Jon Holmes married them in a ceremony that included live music sung by a close friend of the bride.

After the ceremony, Justin and Alissa went with Debra Hiebèrt, owner of Très Fabu, for the “private reveal” of the reception hall and a romantic dance together.

“We never would have realized the importance of this if Debra hadn’t scheduled it in,” says Justin. “But now we realize that your wedding day flies by in a flash and having some private time to enjoy the beauty and atmosphere that Debra had created in the reception hall was very important to us.”

As the evening advanced into a fabulous reception with dinner and dancing, Matt Brys from Extreme Productions kept the mood going with excellent mc skills and a variety of music requested by the bride and groom.

Dinner was prepared by Wine and Roses and included a piece of grilled chicken and a piece of filet mignon on each plate. According to the couple and many of their guests, it was “to die for!”

“It was one of the best meals I have ever had, hands down,” says Justin. “We received multiple compliments on how good the food was, even from friends of ours that are chefs.”

Along with a delicious meal, each of the vendors played an important role in creating the look and feel that the couple wanted for their special evening.

“Not only is Debra’s creativity unmatched, but her contacts—florists, photographers, DJs, linen companies, etc.—made planning and executing the wedding substantially easier, allowing us more time to enjoy the process,” says Alissa. “We never had to worry that our vendors wouldn’t show or wouldn’t come through.”

Shelly McArdle provided amazing florals and according to the bride, “they were beyond perfect!!” CinZo Photography was “wonderful to work with” and “did a fabulous job of capturing the wedding.”

The couple topped the celebration off by honeymooning on a beautiful cruise ship through Rome, Naples, Sicily, Athens, Rhodes, Ephesus, and Alexandria…a perfect tour of the Mediterranean.

One year later, they report back that there are “no babies yet” but plenty to keep them occupied. They continue to work full-time and grow with their careers.

One last thought from the couple in regards to hiring a wedding planner. “You don’t know, what you don’t know.” The essence of his statement is that it’s impossible to know everything that will impact your wedding day.

“One of the most important aspects of working with Debra was knowing that she would be able to take care of any unexpected situations that might arise during or after the wedding,” says Alissa. “Being as prepared as we were allowed us both to enjoy and appreciate the day, making it a priceless memory.”

Vendor Spotlight: Jesse Christian Hendricks | Spanish Guitarist

Stephanie and Justin (Très Fabu’s bride and groom from December 2009) are one of many couples who have enjoyed the beautiful sounds of Spanish guitarist Jesse Christian Hendricks. You may have seen him featured on KCRA Sacramento or CW31 Good Morning Sacramento. He’s been entertaining California’s Central Valley, Bay Area, and beyond for more than ten years.

Hendricks performs at weddings and special events and has played at a variety of venues, including upscale restaurants, hotels, spas, museums, and city festivals. With a passionate and classy approach, Hendricks’ music has been called classical, flamenco jazz, rumba, and world music.

“The guitar is capable of different types of music so you really have a lot of flexibility with it,” says Hendricks. “For example, I often perform beautiful classical guitar for pre-ceremony and ceremony music. It is dignified and classy, a perfect touch to the wedding. Then, for the cocktail hour or dinner, I like to spice it up a little with flamenco-style jazz. This music is a mix of originals and other famous artists, and it provides a lively backdrop for guests to enjoy while mingling.”

Hendricks is mostly self-taught and found a great interest in the Spanish guitar (including classical and flamenco music) as a young adult. He truly loves the sounds of Spain and South America. He believes that the Spanish guitar is the most romantic, evocative instrument one can imagine.

“My favorite part of the job is the idea of being part of something special—whether that is a wedding, concert, or reaching out to seniors and children,” says Hendricks. “Music is a powerful gift that transcends all ages and backgrounds.”

Along with music, what Hendricks loves most in life is traveling.

“When I was younger, I lived in Europe for several years, taking in all the wonderful culture,” says Hendricks. “I have lived in Italy and Argentina and I have to say that the music I perform is a musical postcard and nostalgic reminder of everything I love about those countries.”

The proposal.

Jason surprised Carly on New Year's Day in 2008 at sunset. The couple was overlooking London from the top of the London Eye, the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe. They were alone in a capsule with champagne and strawberries. Carly had no idea he would be proposing and was caught completely off-guard!

The atmosphere…candles, candles, candles!

The main idea for the wedding and reception was simple but elegant. Carly opted for the use of candles throughout the reception venue and minimal floral arrangements. The candles created a very romantic mood, with delicate lighting everywhere you turned. Debra Hiebèrt, owner of Très Fabu, focused mainly on the head table and used votive candles and a mix of different sized vanilla pillar candles to enhance the feeling of amber romance.

Colors and florals.

Black, champagne, and ivory. The bridesmaids wore black gowns with a champagne sash, while Carly wore ivory with silver rhinestone bead work. The men wore black tuxedos.

The bridal bouquet was clean and classic—including roses, freesia, gardenia, and stephanotis,” says Cathy Brooks of Visual Impact Design. “Hydrangea was used as an accent. A silver broach was placed on the stems of her bouquet for an accent of bling.”

The dress.

“I LOVED my dress,” says Carly. “I visited at least eight stores and did not find a dress that made me feel like a bride. Finally, I went to Always Elegant Bridal. I wish it had been my first stop. I found multiple dresses there that I liked, including the one I finally selected. The gown was very comfortable and had the sparkle I was looking for. It was also very affordable.”

The cake topper was originally used at the wedding of Carly’s grandparents and was over 50 years old. They were the only set of grandparents not at the wedding and it was special for Carly to have a part of them there with her. Carly’s grandmother had actually painted it and added on details to customize it for her own wedding.

A large centerpiece on the guest book table included branches with pictures of family weddings hung from them…these were designed by the bride and groom, were double sided, and hung with black ribbons and crystals.

“I quickly realized that I wanted someone who knew the ‘vision’ for the wedding to oversee the set-up and flow of the day,” says Carly, who was located in Santa Barbara (six hours away) during the planning process. “When we met with Debra, I felt like she really understood what we wanted from the day. She had wonderful suggestions while being completely devoted to keeping it ‘our wedding’ and letting us make the decisions. In the end, it was great to have someone I could trust to take care of everything. She was so supportive in the planning process and handled everything the day of the wedding so we were able to fully enjoy our day, family, and friends.”

The biggest smiles are behind the camera.

It all started in San Francisco in 2007 when he spotted her and couldn’t keep his eyes away, though she seemed not to notice. ‘He’ was Lorenzo Bartone; ‘she’ was Cindi Kinney. Two people with a true passion for capturing life. They were both attending a wedding photography seminar and he waited by the hotel entrance, approached her, and offered to assist her on a wedding shoot. A successful plan!

Lorenzo and Cindi lived two hours apart and endured a long distance relationship for about a year, until Cindi moved in with Lorenzo.

“I remember walking in his house for the first time and thinking who is this guy with this amazing art that he's photographed,” says Cindi. “He had the most loving sweet dog named Phoebe and I had a cat named Phoebe—many similarities!”

Shortly after moving in together, the couple made long-term plans.

“We decided that, not being kids anymore, we’d do this with full commitment,” says Lorenzo. “On Christmas Eve, while Cindi was making a sandwich, she cut her finger, requiring a trip to the ER (where we spent the entire day). This changed my plans for asking her to marry me—at least the ‘ring’ part—as the finger next to her ring finger had a bandage the size of a banana on it. The next morning (Christmas morning), I asked to see the bandaged finger and placed a ring on the other one, asking first, of course.”

Along with the ring, the wedding, and the joining of families, came CinZo Photography—the combination of two talented professionals with the ability to offer clients the best of both worlds. Cindi’s background focuses on portraiture and Lorenzo’s on advertising and product work, while both share a love for wedding photography. Cindi has been photographing weddings for more than twenty years. They come as a package deal for their brides and grooms, and with their dual American/Italian citizenship, they can work in Italy and the European community.

“We seem to work together effortlessly,” says Lorenzo. “Our strengths and weaknesses complement each other perfectly. Cindi is more in touch with the emotional side of people; I’m a highly experienced studio/advertising photographer (used to teach lighting). She’s a better editor and a terrific designer. I spent a year at Apple helping with virtual reality research, so I’m pretty technically capable.”

The couple resides in Auburn, California in a lovely old home on lots of land. Cindi’s favorite: a fireplace in the bedroom and bathroom! The décor includes her large collection of various small hearts—made of metal, wood, and stone (many of the rocks have been found on their hikes by the river). She also has photographs and paintings of hearts.

What’s in store for this Valentine’s Day? Cindi and Lorenzo plan to enjoy a hike and a romantic dinner.

“Cindi is the most loving, thoughtful person I’ve ever met,” says Lorenzo. “Sincere, completely who she seems to be, never superficial or two-faced. Always genuine; always sweet and loving.”

“He cooks for me,” says Cindi. “I had always wanted to marry a cook! He never really knew he was so talented in the kitchen until he had someone (me!) to appreciate his cooking. It's just so nice at this time in my life to have a partner who shares in almost everything I do. It's a great feeling of support. We ham and egg it amazingly well, which allows us each to do the things we love.”

Future plans? To travel through America during the slow months, photographing the ‘personalities’ along the way. Lorenzo began this project many years ago and the couple would love to eventually complete the book.

The last weekend in October wasn’t about costumes and trick-or-treaters for Steven and Van…it was about creating memories that would last a lifetime. Luckily, the entire evening was captured perfectly by videographer Phill Sheffield of Phillip Alan Films.

As the video shows, it was a beautiful outside ceremony followed by an amazing inside reception at the country club. The couple had been determined to keep the ceremony outside (while the forecast promised rain) and were both completely full of grace as the showers began. They didn't skip a beat.

"It truly showed who they really are as individuals and people," says Debra Hiebèrt of Très Fabu. "If more individuals were like Van and Steven, this world would be truly amazing! Not everyone would treat the ceremony portion as they did."

Among the evening’s events, Reverend Nesbitt left the couple with courageous words of wisdom, and Steven’s father took a few moments during the reception to congratulate his son and welcome his new daughter-in-law.

“We are so proud of you. You have grown into a wonderful man and we are so happy that you met this beautiful, smart, respectful young lady. Van, you are like a daughter to us. We are glad that you are now part of the family. We love you both very much.”

As George Sans so easily states, “There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.”

There was no question in their minds that a candlelit courtyard wedding was a must. It would be an ideal setting for uniting Stephanie’s Italian family with Justin’s Guatemalan side. A year later, they still can’t believe just how special it was.

Stephanie credits it to “the perfect storm of an amazing wedding planner and an amazing mother.”

The unbelievable transformation of the Sheraton Grand Sacramento into a quaint church ceremony followed by a romantic courtyard reception left the bride, groom, and their guests stunned. It involved 600 candles, amazing lighting effects, a fountain (complete with pavers and moss), ironwork candelabras, olive branches, fresh flowers, and sugared fruit. Elegant colors were used throughout the décor: antique gold, creamy ivory lace, olives, champagnes, and browns.

“I could not believe I was walking into the Sheraton Grand when those doors opened,” says Stephanie. “Wedding guests were taken to our very own church though lighting, décor, ambiance, and romantic candlelight.”

As Cat Stevens’ “Morning Has Broken” began to play, Justin and 190 guests turned to see Stephanie in a beautiful ivory lace gown coming down the aisle, escorted by her two brothers. The song was chosen in honor of her father who has passed, as it was his favorite music. The lighting in the room, which was created by Extreme Productions, set the feel of the last of the setting sun coming through the windows…truly perfect for their 5 o’clock wedding.

Father John Mabry married the couple in a traditional yet very personal ceremony. Stephanie and Justin chose readings from various religious and literary sources and after much thought, decided to exchange traditional vows.

“Something felt so right about saying the same vows as our parents and grandparents who were there with us that day (in body and spirit),” says Stephanie.

Following the ceremony was a cocktail hour in the private courtyard (the reception room) where guests enjoyed listening to a live Spanish acoustic guitarist, Jesse Christian Hendricks.

The “courtyard” itself was nothing short of magic…between the beautiful fountain in the center, the amazing head table, and the overall lighting effects: hanging market lights set the tone for the evening and gobo lights mimicked the shadows of leaves from the moonlight. Each table had unique containers collected from local antique stores: old copper pots and gorgeous urns, no two the same, were filled with olive branches, rosemary, spray roses, hydrangeas, pears, and grapes.

“It was like every one of the vendors went all out to do what they do best,” says Justin.

Dinner was catered by the Sheraton and included vegetarian and non-vegetarian options; the main course was portabella mushroom risotto timbale or Petaluma chicken filled with apple brioche stuffing. A three-tier cake followed, with chocolate grand marnier, triple chocolate, and the couple’s favorite, chocolate pistachio!

Looking back, the evening is an unforgettable memory for the couple, just as their first dance—“Memories Are Made of This” by Dean Martin—had promised. A year later, Stephanie and Justin are enjoying feeling even more connected and content to be with their soul mate. Stephanie is still loving her job as a special education preschool teacher and Justin continues to work with computer programming…and is thrilled to be getting a new drum set! The couple plans to celebrate Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Guatemala, along with their families.

Dear Debra,

We cannot thank you enough for orchestrating such a magical evening! You truly turned our vision of our wedding into reality. One of our friends said to us that it was as if we were on a movie set. The candlelit fireplace mantel was the perfect place for our ceremony, followed by the reception in the courtyard of the Firehouse Restaurant in Old Town Sacramento! The setting was absolutely modern, simple, and romantic. Everyone, including all 20 kids, had a blast!

We also want to thank you for introducing us to your contacts (hopefully I don’t forget anybody). We loved everyone! Leilani (makeup) and Renee (hairstylist) were like part of my family; we had a blast listening to Hip Hop during the trial run; they were with me up until I walked down the aisle, then later at The Mixx where we had our after party! This leads us to Cindi and Lorenzo of CinZo Photography…..wow, what a fabulous couple! They were so easy to work with and really made us feel comfortable. They captured the evening so that we would never forget how much fun we had. The pictures are fabulous!

The DJ/MOC, Sean Kennedy, from Music and More Entertainment, was excellent! Sean went over and above the call of duty!

I have to give a couple of shout-outs to the Firehouse Restaurant (Shannon) and Bella Blooms (Vicky). What a beautiful setting in the Courtyard with the trees, mini-lights, and flowers everywhere! We picked the perfect night for our wedding!

Rustic Meets Romance at Oak Farm Vineyards

Cara Wademan had a very clear vision for her fall wedding. She imagined casual yet chic with a rustic flair; a relaxing ceremony surrounded by friends and family; a place where her guests would be free to roam the grounds; and an abundance of comfort food!

When Debra Michelle Hiebèrt of Très Fabu Event Planning and Design introduced the idea of Oak Farm Vineyards in Lodi, California, Cara was immediately sold.

“Debra found Oak Farm Vineyards, a gorgeous vineyard complete with a barn (my one request) and a touch of southern charm with a large, white plantation house,” says Wademan. “The barn reminded me a lot of the old hay barns I see at my Grandma’s house. I am also in love with white running fences, and Oak Farm has loads of them!”

Sunday, October 3, 2010 proved to be a perfect autumn day — sunny and mild with a bit of a breeze. The ceremony began at two o’clock in the afternoon and 150 people attended. Debra and Cara incorporated a variety of fall colors that complemented the natural beauty of the land. Patina green was brought out in the bridesmaids’ dresses. Oranges, greens, and ivories were shown in a variety of pumpkins of different shades (Luminas, Full Moons, Young Beauties, Autumn Golds, Marina Di Chioggias, Fairytales, Cinderellas, mini Jack o' Lanterns, and Baby Boos). The table linens were carefully chosen — underlays of chocolate and burnt tangerine, and burlap overlays that were woven with a swirl design.

The floral and decorative arrangements provided by Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry incorporated a variety of wheat and leaves, roses in red and apricot tones, cream and orange chrysanthemums, sunflowers, and other yellow hues.

“Shelley listened to my requests and she executed them 1,000 times better than I could have imagined,” says Wademan. “It really touched me that she went to the trouble of searching antique stores for a broach for my bridal bouquet. She went above and beyond.”

The wedding was performed by Pastor Kevin Brown of Lodi. He successfully created a relaxing atmosphere (the couple’s request) while they exchanged vows in a short ceremony. Six bridesmaids and three groomsmen supported the happy couple at the altar. The groom (Mike) was dressed in a classic black and white tuxedo, and the bride…

“I wanted a gown that was fun and flirty and that’s exactly what I got!” says Wademan. “It was a couture gown that has lots of vertical ruffles down the skirt. I loved it. I think I now know what a princess at Disneyland feels like with everyone wanting to take their picture with you.”

Dinner was displayed beautifully—a rustic buffet with burlap runners, wine boxes, and an antique drying rack that housed the wrapped utensils. Randy Peters Catering created a wonderful meal that consisted of wild rice stuffed butternut squash; corn on the cob (roasted in the husk) with a chili butter sauce and topped with parmesan cheese; garlic sirloin roast; freshly baked artisan rolls; cornbread stuffing; and a chilled green salad.

“People can’t stop talking about the food at the wedding,” says Wademan. “I couldn’t have imagined a meal that better fit the season. They really put a lot of thought and effort into planning it.”

For dessert, Cara wanted every guest to have a mini cake! Cupcakes were baked by Icing on the Cupcake in five autumn flavors: vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, snicker doodle, and maple nut. They were displayed beautifully on dark copper three-tiered cupcake stands.

CinZo Photography captured all the afternoon bliss (including lawn games for the guests) and the special moments of the evening as the couple danced to live bluegrass music and mingled with their families and friends.

When the night came to an end, each guest was sent home with a special gift that was baked and packaged by the bride — a fabulous little jar of peanut brittle in honor of Cara’s grandfather who passed away a few years ago. Cara has many fond memories of making the holiday treat with her Gradfather Jack and included the special story on a tag attached to each jar.

Newlyweds Cara and Mike are extremely thankful for Debra, the Très Fabu team, and for their perfect autumnal wonderland.

“The moment I realized having a wedding planner was well worth the money was during an appointment with my caterer,” says Wademan. “They were asking questions, and all I could say was ‘I don’t know, but Debra will.’ I didn’t know if there was electricity where the dinner would be served, or where the best place for them to set up a field kitchen would be so that it would be out of view from the guests, or if there was accessible running water, etc. Debra to the rescue!”

For Debra, the event was a fun challenge. “Autumn is my absolute favorite moment of the year in northern California,” says Hiebèrt. “I just knew I could encompass her vision and pull out the best that Mother Nature has to offer, and design an autumn filled wedding that Cara would just absolutely adore!”

It was exactly what Andrew and I have wished for! Our home was dripping in complete romance; glowing with warm embers ablaze in our fireplaces; talented professional opera singers; cello and violin artists; and the opulent drama you created within the walls of our home was beyond amazing. It was intimate; heartfelt; lovely and had the complete overtone of the incredible romantic drama we had wished it to encompass. No one wanted to leave. As you know our last guest left at two in the morning after more fireside champagne and hot cordials.

We are looking forward to creating another celebration here with you and your eye for design!!! We are thinking of having another celebration at Pebble Beach!!! You must be here for that to design away! Must!!

At the end of the evening on May 15, 2010, Alvaro and Inthira Mendoza felt absolutely speechless. Their wedding day began at 10 o’clock that morning with an authentic Lao ceremony performed at home, followed by a traditional Catholic Hispanic wedding that afternoon at St. Rose church in Sacramento. The evening included a ten-course Chinese meal at The Asian Pearl, and dancing until midnight. Everything had gone off without a hitch and a total of 350 friends and family members had witnessed their vows and celebrated as the two families from very different cultures united.

Alvaro and Inthira are both the first generation from their families to arrive to the United States. Alvaro’s family is from Mexico and Inthira’s is from Laos, and although both families immigrated when the children were young, they continued to raise them with their traditional languages, customs, and food.

“Having two wedding ceremonies was very important to us because this shows that we are celebrating not only the unity of love but the unity of both families,” says Alvaro.

“Further, because our families have played an important part in our lives, we wanted to reflect both families’ cultures and traditions and also show the respect and love that we have for one another,” adds Inthira. “Usually I am the one who would plan and execute an event for my friends and family. But since I am the bride, I did not want this task to fall on any family member or friend…therefore we decided to hire an event planner. I think that was the best decision I have made, especially hiring Debra.”

With the help of Très Fabu Event Planning and Design and its team of fabulous vendors, a reflection of the couple’s individual cultures and traditions is exactly what was created…

The Lao Wedding: 10am-noon

Alvaro and Inthira began the first ceremony dressed in traditional Lao outfits that they had recently traveled to Laos to find. Inthira wore a red silk skirt with a matching wrap-around shirt with buttons on the sides and trimming from the skirt along the seams, and Alvaro wore red silk wrap-around pants and a golden jacket with gold chains that went across his chest. Inthira’s outfit was accompanied by a matching red scarf called “pra beang,” with gold beads hanging from the end. Alvaro wore special golden shoes that were shipped from Thailand—these shoes were his favorite part of his outfit, as this style was only worn by the royal family!

One hundred and fifty guests gathered at the home of Inthira’s parents in Elk Grove to join in the festivities. The decorations were kept simple for this ceremony, with tissue pom poms hung up in the backyard and the inside the house, hydrangeas and palm leaves at the entrance of the home, a mixture of lavender and white roses in the lunch table centerpiece, and white roses and white hydrangeas around the bowl (khan) that held the wedding rings.

“In the traditional Lao wedding, there is a lot of blessing for the bride and groom,” explains Inthira. “The significant part of the ceremony is the tying of the white string to the bride and groom. Tying the white strings also gives the chance for guests to give personnel messages and blessings to the couple.”

The ceremony was followed by a lunch that consisted of authentic Vietnamese and Lao food prepared by Inthira’s mother and also by a local restaurant. Inthira’s father introduced the newlyweds and thanked the guests for attending, announcing how happy he was to see both sides of the family together and enjoying the event!

The Catholic Hispanic Wedding: 3:30pm-4:30pm

After celebrating in Inthira’s true Lao style, the couple, along with 200 guests (some had attended the previous ceremony as well), arrived at St. Rose Church for a traditional Catholic ceremony. The wedding party consisted of three bridesmaids and three groomsmen (Alvaro’s three brothers). Alvaro stood at the altar dressed in a black Calvin Klein suit awaiting his bride…

Holding her father’s arm, Inthira made her way down the aisle in a beautiful mermaid-style gown with a cathedral train. Although Alvaro had seen Inthira earlier that day, he felt a lot of anticipation and excitement during this ceremony.

“The Catholic ceremony was very exciting because the groom does not get to see the bride until she comes through the front door,” he says. “It feels like you have not seen each other in a long time because you both see each other with more love than you can possibly describe. Everything goes by so fast that the only thing you remember is the last phrase when the priest says ‘you can now kiss the bride.’”

With the day’s events going by so quickly, the couple was thankful to have the local husband and wife photography team, Eye Connoisseur, and local videographer, Jonathan Knox, capturing it all.

The Reception: 6pm-midnight

By 6 o’clock that night, Alvaro and Inthira were ready to celebrate, dance, and enjoy a ten-course Chinese meal. Inthira had slipped into a pink dress with a shiny thread design—chosen because the hand-sewn decoration would shine better with the evening light.

“Inthira's gowns were above amazing,” says Debra Hiebèrt of Très Fabu. “She belonged on the cover of an international glamour magazine!”

The Asian Pearl restaurant had been transformed into a magical place, with candles on the tables and tones of purple implemented perfectly throughout the table skirts, napkins, and centerpieces. Extreme Productions created a lavender logo that was shining on the white dance floor, accented by purple background lighting.

“Everyone we spoke to kept telling us how beautiful the reception looked,” says Inthira. “They love the decorations and the floral centerpieces on our head table.”

Floral Artistry provided all the arrangements for the reception, using an abundance of different types of orchids. One challenge was making sure the flowers could handle the spinning of the Lazy Susans that were used on the tables!

“She [Inthira] wanted really tall arrangements,” says Shelly McArdle of Floral Artistry. “We came up with tall cylinders and hung orchids on fishing line and also applied orchids to the outside of the vases.”

The couple chose to have a Lao band and a Spanish DJ, and while having a combination of music concerned them, Debra made sure that everything ran smoothly.

“Debra is beyond amazing,” says Inthira. “She is like a fairy godmother that listens and actually makes your dreams come true. What is great about Debra and her team is that they were with us the entire day without actually showing themselves until they were needed.”

After an endless variety of Chinese cuisine, guests enjoyed a triple berry wedding cake created by Divine Desserts. It was decorated with fresh purple orchids (provided by Floral Artistry), shiny silver rhinestones, sparkly silver ribbon, and silver plaques.

It truly was a full day of unity, happiness, and joy…as Alvaro and Inthira, along with their families and friends, made a promise to each other and began a life together.

“After meeting Debra, I knew at that moment that we just had to hire her,” says Inthira. “She is a great listener and her enthusiasm and professionalism is hard to find. Weddings are not complete without Très Fabu Event Planning and Design.”

Hello everyone!!

Mike and I are heading out on our honeymoon soon, but I just need to tell you all something. From the bottom of my heart thank you. I know why Debra recommended each and every one of you. Our wedding yesterday was beyond breathtaking and above what I could even imagine. I wish I had more time to e-mail you individually, but this will have to do:

Shelley - You incorporated everything I asked for into the floral decorations and bouquets. The bridesmaids and I could not stop talking about how gorgeous they were. The fact that you went to such depths to create my autumn vision ~ shows how dedicated you are to your craft. The wheat bunches were also a highlight, and looked better than the ones I showed you in the magazine.

Cindi and Lorenzo - I wish more than anything that the sun would have been out longer so we could have spent the whole evening taking pictures! You two have an amazing talent, and work so well together, which in turn makes your subjects comfortable and relaxed. I can not wait to see the pictures. I know they'll be great because you did such a fabulous job with the engagement ones.

Pastor Kevin - At dinner, Mike introduced me to his 8th grade science teacher, Mrs. Parker. She is now 85 years old and said she has been to more weddings than she can count. Your service yesterday was the best she has ever heard. Your voice was warm, you were funny, light hearted, and not pretentious. I couldn't agree more. Thank you for capturing our spirit in your ceremony.

Renee and Leilani - In the events leading up to the wedding I have had my hair and makeup done multiple times. None of them compared to what you did yesterday. After the ceremony Mike leaned in and told me that I looked absolutely beautiful and whoever did my hair and makeup really knew what they were doing. My bridesmaids were thrilled. Each and everyone. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls!

Mimi & Gaby - Thank you for being one of the few vendors who actually stocks burlap, and fancy burlap at that!!! The linens were absolutely gorgeous, and really helped to tie the whole event together!

Randy and Lisa - Not one complaint about the food. NOT ONE!!! You and your crew were professional and very attentive to the guests. This was no ordinary buffet food, let me assure you!!! Not only did everything taste delicious, but you really took the time to pick menu options that were unique and autumn appropriate. Our guests were amazed.

Sarah - Talk about an amazing venue! Thank you for being such a great host. Our guests loved the grounds, and I caught glimpses of several of them wandering around the premises taking peeks and pictures. GORGEOUS!

And of course, my lovely Debra: I don't have words to express my gratitude for making our day so special and unique. I saw you hustling around working your butt off - all for our occasion and to make our day so special. You are an amazing and caring person. You have a talent unsurpassed by others in your profession for taking a theme and running with it. Your vision for our autumnal celebration was spot on! And your staff! I can not believe that one of them (Danielle?) gave me her flip flops to wear. Such a sweetheart. You picked fine helpers! Also, please please, please tell the stationer/printer (Philosophia Custom Paperie) that I have NEVER seen such amazing work in my life. I CANNOT get over how amazing the seating chart is. SERIOUSLY. Wow!!! I'm still gitty about it!!!!!!

Pregnancy.....need I say more? Making decisions and focusing on details....umm not so much. Unless of course those decisions consisted of what I was going to eat next or how long until my next nap.

After some thought, I had made the tough decision to relinquish control to someone other than myself, to plan a perfect baby shower and create what I had envisioned this day should be for the last 5 months. After many meetings with potential event planners, I was lucky enough to find Tres Fabu Events. After my first conversation with Debra I knew she was the one. Her positive energy came though the phone and I felt very comfortable as if we had been friends for years.

Throughout the planning stages for my baby shower Debra and her team listened to my ideas and offered alternative ideas that would have never crossed my mind in order to create the wow factor I was looking for. Every detail was covered. I was included in the decision making on every item, big or small. The team presented choices on everything from the flowers and menu items to the font coloring on the invitations and the candy selections for the candy bar.

Debra's list of professional referrals is an excellent resource. I had the pleasure of working with many of these individuals throughout this process and had such a wonderful experience that I will continue to use them in the future.

My baby shower was nothing short of fabulous and far exceeded my expectations. I think the photos speak for themselves. It was a perfect party to honor my little princess that would soon be entering the world. Every detail was just as we had discussed during our planning phase and the day ran seamlessly. I didn't have to think or worry about a thing the entire day. And like any wonderful event it passed by to quickly.

Debra and the Tres Fabu Team went above and beyond to make my event the "wow" I was looking for and succeeded ten fold. I was so lucky to find them and will certainly be using them for all my future events. If you dream big and have high expectations for your event, I highly recommend Debra and the Tres Fabu team to anyone in need of event planning.

We also had the priviledge of planning and designing the DuBach Family Thanksgiving at The Citizen Hotel last autumn as well! That's a whole other story!

I have to thank Deb Penrice with By Invitation Only for the wonderful invitations and custom paperie that set this event in motion; Shelley McArdle for her sense of style and grace she brings to all our events and my entire production team whom I am so grateful; special kudo's to Harmony Lines, Chef MJ and Chef Touey (we are still discussing & raving about our five course meal) at The Citizen Hotel for making this event over the top memorable. Divine Desserts made it perfect with these perfectly darling little Baby Cakes!

Juicy Couture Santa Barbara on Main Street for hosting our visit and giving us quite the shopping spree last spring! Thank you headquarter management back east!

Kim and I visited many venues before she chose The Citizen Hotel ~ it was the perfect setting for this abundantly beautiful baby shower! We are proud to say that the DuBach family welcomed a little baby girl late last summer. Her name is Se' Bella ~ now talk about sweet perfection!

Al & Inthira's Adventure Abroad for their Traditional Wedding Attire

Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design is excited to be a part of the Inthira and Al's multi-cultural wedding day tomorrow.

We will start early with a home based Laos Traditional wedding ceremony with their appointed Monk ~ then be whisked off thereafter for their Traditional Catholic ceremony. It will be a day of bringing two families and two cultures together in wonderful harmony. They are expecting over 350 guests at their wedding reception! We kindly asked Inthira and Al share their adventures of finding the traditional heritage dress on their six-week trip to Laos last fall:

It was quite an adventure trying to find the right outfit to wear and all the jewels that enhance the colorful traditional wedding outfits. We went shopping almost everyday for the first two weeks looking for the right garment. But every morning before we head into the City of Laos to shop, Al and I would wake up at 6:00 a.m. to go to the local open air market to get rice porridge, coffee and rice on a stick. The market was right across the street from my grandmother's house so it was very convenient for us. Although it was interesting to know that on days when we woke up at 7:00 a.m., all the rice porridge was sold out.

Somedays my uncle would take us into the city to shop and other days we would take the local taxi which is called the "tuk tuk". From my grandmother's house to the shopping mall, it would take about 30 mins. But we did not mind the drive at all because we love passing by the rich green rice fields and the fresh breeze of the morning and the relaxing and stress free atmosphere.

My younger cousin and her mother-in-law went with us the first couple times to help bargain. Almost everything in Laos could be bargained for....if you really wanted it that particular item. Also, since my younger cousin had recently bought her outfit for her wedding, it was easier for us to get a nice price for our red traditional outfit. Although, the shirt we got originally for Al was later exchanged and upgraded to a gold trim on the collar, buttons and sleeves. Al was pretty funny because he was very particular about his overall traditional Loas wedding look as well. The second outfit for me was a little bit of a challenge because we had to not only find the pink color but also the type of design that was sewn onto the fabric. And it was not an easy pick because there were so many stores and things just started to look the same. Also we did not have too much time at the store because all the merchants closes at 5pm. Which usually leaves us at about 3-4 hrs of shopping.

But once the outfits were found and purchased, we ended up getting the outfit late Friday night, just before our departure on Saturday morning back to the USA. Glad to say though that towards the end everything just fell into place and we were able to get the garment items we wanted in Laos for our American based ceremonies.

We are really looking forward to everything coming together tomorrow!

What an incredible day of family, faith and friends ~ Saturday ~ April 10th ~ turned out to be!

All came together to celebrate the joy of the marriage of Lauren & Zachary who were married in the afternoon at The Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Folsom ~ California.

All guests were welcomed by both the families of the bride and groom, as well as our newly crowned Mr. & Mrs. Zachary Martin!

Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design team created Lauren's vision of her bright blue color palate mixed in with a black & white damask pattern she just adored. Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry captured the simple elegance of the florals in whites to compliment Lauren's wishes of roses, carnations and tulips. Judd and Debby Rackham of Spice Rack Productions captured the evening celebration with their warm grace and fabulous camera skills ~ all the way to cupcake presentation! Thank you to Randy Peters Catering for creating such a lovely family style dinner for all their guests to enjoy in their Granite Bay home celebration! And of course, thank you Divine Desserts for the gorgeous wedding cake which was the hit of the evening, coupled with Icing on the Cupcake’s, delicious cupcakes!

Chantilly lace meets rock ‘n’ roll for Ashleigh and Kristopher’s Sacramento area wedding. The bride has always loved all things pink and girly but doesn’t want to overpower her husband-to-be who loves rock and roll with too many frills and bows, so their wedding décor has to have its fair share of hard-edged design elements as well.

The bride and groom-to-be live in Hawaii so the mother of the bride hired local wedding planner Debra Michelle Hiebert to put all the parts together and to implement a whole host of surprises for her daughter starting with lighting elements that resemble the couple’s tattoos.

Ashleigh selected a traditional pearly pink wedding cake but unbeknownst to her, her Mother has ordered another cake with Ed Hardy-inspired black fondant that is decidedly un-girly from the same baker. Another one of Mom’s surprises is a custom-designed ice luge engraved with the couple’s monogram to serve their signature cocktails.

It takes a large crew to transform the staid country club into a chic black and white locale but with the help of a creative wedding planner, hundreds of yards of fabric and a unique floral design that includes a polka-dotted rose petal aisle treatment, the mission is accomplished.

The table settings shine atop smoky quartz chargers with pale pink linens accented by an ultra-feminine black and white cameo gift box.

Mom saves the biggest surprise for last. It’s an explosive firework show choreographed to the couple’s favorite music and it blows the crowd away as the reception kicks into high gear. Ashleigh and Kristopher are overwhelmed by the lavish event and look forward to a long happy life together.

Sacramento, California – April 08, 2010 – Tres Fabu Events, one of Sacramento’s premier event planning and design firms pulled off a wedding so extravagant, it was chosen to be featured on WE tv’s Platinum Weddings airing Sunday, April 11, 2010 @ 9PM PST.

The bride and groom, Ashleigh & Kristopher, enjoyed a “Platinum Pink Reception meets Rock ‘n Rolla Lounge” inspired wedding at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Unique elements included: special lighting of continuous rolling flames illuminating a grand oak tree on the 18th hole, a chantilly pink, black & white reception, an after party “Ed Hardy” themed lounge for the gentlemen, eccentric “Betsy Johnson” themed lounge for the ladies and a surprise firework grand finale timed just perfect to a vintage rock song. Vendors include: florals from Floral Artistry; table linens and chair covers from Wildflower Linen; Extreme Productions Entertainment and black and white printed draping from Velon Designs.

Thank you for making our wedding the most magical and unforgettable day of my life. The wedding was everything I wanted: simple, classic and elegant. Working with you and your ladies was a pleasure from the beginning to the end.

You were a blessing during the planning process. I know how hard you worked to give us everything we wanted within budget, and you delivered more than I could have expected. You really understood who we were, what we wanted and brought our vision to life and embellished it with your own flair without overpowering our ideas. We really appreciate you making our unconventional ideas (like cheesecake!) work for the wedding, and all your vendor recommendations were wonderful!

The day of the wedding was stress-free, largely because of your team. I was completely relaxed knowing you would have the reception ready when the ceremony ended. Your team kept us on track so we didn’t miss or rush any precious moments. You were always there when we needed you: for a drink, for a safety pin, for a handkerchief – you and the team predicted our every need, were very discrete and provided such positive energy on such a long day! We wanted a fun, upbeat wedding, no tears on such a happy day, and you delivered one of the best parties I’ve ever had. What a relief it was to leave the reception knowing you would take care of the clean-up and the romantic honeymoon suite with the extra food was a touching surprise and the perfect end to the most unbelievable day.

The wedding was truly the most amazing day and I cannot think of a single thing that was less than perfect. I feel so lucky to have had your help, and to now have you in our life.

This wedding event for their families was an absolute joy to be a part of! I fell in love with Miss Carly and her mom, Liz, immediately! I have to say I do miss our weekly meetings and daily phone calls leading into the event ~ however ~ I know they will be a part of my families' life forevermore.

My partner and I have attended many weddings around the world in our 41 years together.

However, we wanted to tell you that none have been as elegant, sophisticated, and "real" in theme, as what you all did for this particular wedding.

The unique use of olive branches on the "Church Chairs", magnolia garlands down both sides of the walkway, the fabulous soft lighting with the elegant candles, and the special effects of the professional lighting in the "Church Setting" creating the appearance of church windows, and in the "Italianate Palazzo" dining setting with the wonderful hanging strung lights, and the projected leaves on the walls, were spectacular.

You and your support staff are truly professionals. We wish we were young again, we would have you do us a wedding just like theirs, except it would be a "Southern theme" with lots of pastel gowns and big hats like they wear down south. We are sure that Stephanie and Justin loved every touch, we could see it in their smiles. We know the mother of the bride loved it because she said so.

This letter made myself and my team tear-up with pride and we all feel so humble for her words and for sharing her experience with our team's efforts to create a unique, magical and memorable wedding weekend her entire family could remember for all time! My event team and Stephanie's team of vendors, knowing her and her family's entire story a year before the wedding ~ we all embarked on a journey together, determined to create a day focused on the love and joy to create a celebration that would envelope all this and more!

Dear Debra

I told you after the wedding that I had so many things to tell you that I could not find the words. So now, a few weeks have turned into months later and this is my attempt to express a small bit of what you have done for me and my family.

I was never the girl who dreamed of her wedding day. A tomboy. Did not care for dresses and not wedding dresses for sure. Wedding dreams never really swirled in my head to be quite honest.

I never thought about weddings really until I heard someone whispering about how sad it would be that I would never have the opportunity to walk down the aisle with my Dad or have my Father & Daughter Dance on my wedding day. For the next several years, I thought over and over again how no matter what, I never ever wanted to hear people whispering about how sad they were for me, and if it meant I would never have a wedding, so be it. I went from never thinking about weddings to thinking I was never going to have one.

After Justin and I met, within months, we seemed to be the kind of couple that would be together forever, wedding or not. Marriage was not necessary……..but then one fine day…..came the ring. ECSTATIC!! In the days after the proposal, we had a decision to make. A small non-wedding with just family or a big wedding celebrating the joy, love and hope in our future together….this was what my family had always wanted for us…..what everyone (even tomboy me) had always had reserved in the back of her mind as a possibility. Justin told me it was up to me, if I did not want to ‘deal’ with those whispering voices real or in my head, we could just have small family ceremony.

Would my wedding be sad? Would I break down? Would people feel sorry for me and not happy for me? Would my family be okay?

The choice was already made. I was going to celebrate this to the fullest. I had high hopes. I was not sure how yet, but I knew it was going to be good.

And then I met a wedding planner who lived on hopes, and made dreams come true.

From the minute I talked to you, I knew I was in excellent hands and it was the best decision of the decade to have you as the maestro of all celebrations!

Debra, our wedding was the best day of my life. I do not remember feeling so happy, so comfortable, so ‘taken care of’….so hopeful and eager to continue this voyage with my new husband and our new joint family. When I see the wedding pictures and the snippets of wedding video from our day, the first thing I see is pure bliss in my face. Surrounded by friends and family, I was blissed to the max, and it was contagious! Everybody on the both the night of the wedding and weeks later kept telling me how wonderful, fun and joyous our wedding was.

No whispers.

No sadness.

Just joy. Loud and clear joy!

So for this I thank you. You made dreams I never knew existed come true.

Post script: One of the stories I heard the very next day after our wedding day.

The night of our wedding, one of our wedding guests (a nurse) saw the doctor she works for in the lobby with his daughter, they were returning from the Nutcracker performance that evening.

He asked what she (the nurse) was doing at the hotel lobby, and she said “Well I am here attending a wedding……” The doctors seven year old daughter inquired if she could see the wedding, and reluctantly, we let her take a peek inside.

After just seeing the Nutcracker, her only response to what she saw in the room of our wedding celebration was “THIS is the most beautiful wonderland!!!”

Yes, it was!!!

Cupid is the most famous of Valentine symbols and everybody knows that boy armed with bow and arrows, and piercing hearts.

He is known as a mischievous, winged child armed with bow and arrows. The arrows signify desires and emotions of love, and Cupid aims those arrows at Gods and Humans, causing them to fall deeply in love. Cupid has always played a role in the celebrations of love and lovers. In ancient Greece he was known as Eros, the young son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. To the Roman's he was Cupid, and his mother was Venus.

There is a very interesting story about Cupid and his mortal bride Psyche in Roman and Greek mythology. Venus was overly jealous of the pure heart and beauty of Psyche, and ordered her son, Cupid, to punish the mortal. But instead of punishing her as his mother wished, Cupid fell completely and deeply in love with Psyche. He adored her heart and goodness. Cupid took Psyche as his beloved wife, with one huge complication and hurdle in their life together, as a mere mortal, Psyche was forbidden to look at Cupid, for she would be punished terribly if she were to gaze upon him.

Psyche was very happy until her humanly sisters persuaded her to gaze upon at Cupid, just once. Quickly. No harm would come of it. As soon as Psyche looked at Cupid, Cupid punished her by leaving her. Their lovely castle and gardens vanished too. Psyche found herself alone in an open field with no signs of other angels or Cupid himself. As she wandered trying to find her true love, she came upon the temple of Venus, where her mother-in-law resided. Venus always wanting and wishing to destroy Psyche, the goddess of love gave Psyche a series of tasks, each harder and more dangerous then the last.

For her last task Psyche was given a little box and told to take it to the underworld. She was told to get some of the beauty of Proserpine, the wife of Pluto, and put it in the box. During her trip she was given tips on
avoiding the dangers of the realm of the dead. She was also warned not to open the box. However, as in most fables, temptation overcame Psyche and she opened the box. But instead of finding beauty, she found deadly slumber.

Cupid found his beloved bride, Psyche, lifeless on the ground. He gathered the deadly sleep from her body and put it back in the box. Cupid forgave her, as did his mother, Venus. The gods, moved by Psyche's devoted love for Cupid made her a goddess.

Today, Cupid and his arrows have become the most popular symbols of love during the February holiday of Valentine's Day, and love is most frequently depicted by two hearts pierced by an arrow. Cupid's arrow to be exact!

May Cupid's arrow keep true love always close to your heart! Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

What a grand way to start twenty-ten!

~ With a romantic wedding! ~

Maureen and Michael's big day was held at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Which actually turned out to be a lovely and sunny afternoon on the first Saturday of the New Year! Maureen and I shared something in common that day.... a special day for her, her wedding, and also for me, my birthday! We were all celebrating!

Maureen envisioned her wedding day in timeless soft colors; oodles of elegant drama encompassed with an abundance of romantic candlelight to create the mood she wanted her and Michael to experience along with their dearest family and wedding guests.

She decided upon an array of tonal gold's, coupled with creamy ivories & whites, heavy usage of crystals and bling! bling! along with their twist of the monogram having their first initials coupled with the number two.

Hence, a repeating theme of their "M2M" throughout their wedding festivities.

She wanted her entire floral design to be dramatic, artful, all florals to be in the palette of vanilla creams dripping entirely with crystals. The entire floral design was created once again, by the ever creative Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry and her production team.

A new twist on the honeymoon trip: Michael surprised our lovely bride for she had no idea where she was going and he packed entirely for her. I’m still awaiting the full story. He was not going to tell her until they arrived at the airport for their departure. Curious, as well? Why they are still in the Bahamas.......enjoying their newly crowned status as Mr. & Mrs. M2M!

The Sheraton Grand Hotel Transformed for an Italian/Guatemalan Inspired Wedding

It’s funny. The significance of lighting and production design is never more apparent than when you want to take your guests on a journey or transform an event space to create a theme that fits your personality or vision. When Stephanie and Justin Castillo chose Extreme Productions Entertainment to be their DJ/MC and Lighting and Production company for their wedding, we JUMPED at the chance! Stephanie and Justin told us in our first planning meeting “We want to take our guests on a journey… we want to feel like we are celebrating in a courtyard in Guatemala… or Italy… or any of the other romantic courtyards we have ever visited.”

We love it when we have the opportunity to take guests on a journey!

The beautiful Sheraton Grand Hotel – Sacramento was the stage for this wonderful and fun event. Our design included dividing the ballroom into sections to accomplish the wedding courtyard reception (as pictured above) along with a beautiful rustic chapel inspired church setting for the ceremony to take place (below)

Debra and her team from Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design always go above and beyond. This wedding was no exception. Debra surprised our wonderful clients with a massive (and beautiful) working fountain complete with Italian paver tile. She even laid moss in the cracks to make it appear as if this piece of the courtyard had been there for years! Talk about a WOW factor!

When the bride and groom entered their reception in a private “room reveal”, their reaction said it all… “Over the top! WOW! We could not have imagined anything like this… we cannot believe this is OUR wedding!”

Those are the reactions we strive for!

We just received a wonderful thank you card from Stephanie and Justin! “Thank you for continuing to amaze us-days after our wedding. You really are the creators of magic and we are still in awe of how amazing our wedding was…”

I can't even organize my thoughts enough even now a few days after THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.

Everyone on both sides of our families are inundating us with messages not only about amazingly gorgeous the wedding was, but how truly happy and magical we both looked, and this is because of you and your dream team.

After the holidays... and your next masterpiece wedding... I want to get all these thoughts running around in my head on paper and give them to you because at night I wake up and want to tell everyone how much I love them and appreciate them and it makes me cry in happiness because I truly do not remember feeling so happy in my life as felt on the night of my wedding.

Anyway, please let me know the best address for you and also I have to tell you...... thank goodness for Facebook because now I know I can always be your friend :)

A Gift of Words

Christmas Greetings!

This is the time of year when one exchanges gifts with their loved ones. Whether it be your new fiance or a gift to be presented to your husband, wife, family member or dear friend. Truly, it is the meaning and thought behind the gift you choose to bless someone with. Instead of shopping for and purchasing a gift ~ try something unique and different.

There is nothing more powerful in my humble opinion, than pen to paper.

Think of how special this person is in your life; what they personally mean to you; how they enhance your life; enrich it; what they bring to your life to balance it or give it more meaning. Write how you feel in either a letter or a poem, perhaps a song. Use your own handwriting on a lovely piece of paper; hire a calligrapher to make your words a piece of art; or design your words in a design program and print it as a gift. All of the above would make for a fabulous gift.....either the paper itself; or in a scrapbook (for future additions throughout the years) or have it professionally matted and framed. Very fabulous!

This is truly an intimate gift from the heart and one that will be treasured throughout your years together as a family.

Lauren & David's Private Estate Wedding Film Highlight

December greetings to all ~

Going into this festive Christmas season as I write this blog post about a June Wedding Event, seems a bit funny, however, it feels like a short time ago that we all worked collectively as a tfep&d dream team to pull off Lauren & David's wedding extravaganza.

It is a little chilly now ~ but back in June it was 105 degree's in the infamous SacTown Valley heat! Looking back on this wedding film snippet ~ fills my heart with all the wonderful emotions from that day. A complete pleasure to of been of service for this family for over a years time. David, Lauren, and Lauren's parents, Roger and June Gualano ~ flew us down to Irvine to be interviewed by them early in 2008 and the tfep&d dream team was hired soon thereafter! We were so excited to be a part of thier wedding event team!

This wedding was an absolute fabulous feast of eye candy ~ especially where Shelley McArdle of Floral Artistry's divine floral creations were concerned. Lauren, our bride, wanted this event to speak volumes in florals......and did it!! Mammothly I might add. All of of Lauren's inspirational images that she collected were all of decadent florals and gorgeous tents. They held their event at David's, Aunt & Uncle's, private estate (can you say 25 acres worth of uber fab property????) in the Elk Grove/Wilton area......a favorite place of his to visit as a child all the way into adulthood.....and continues today. The estate is kept immaculately like a private park. Nature's glory and bounty at every turn.

Lauren & David live in Southern California, Irvine, and both have full time jobs and are studying for their Master's Degree in Accounting at UC Irvine ~ while holding down their 40+ hour work weeks in addition. What is so great, they do not even look like accountants ~ more like glamorous actors in love! Have to love that! I completely adored pulling this wedding event together with our dream team of professional vendors and turning our clients ideas into one hot reality! All of their guests were from SoCal and around the globe. The only people that lived locally were the estate owners themselves!

Our couple honeymooned in Dubai for awhile ~ then jetted off to Bora Bora to a private island for rest, relaxation and reflection regarding their new status as Mr. & Mrs.!

Decking the Halls for December!

Bienvenue and Ho, Ho, Ho Everyone!

We have been busy bee's decorating homes for the last two weeks ~ our phones have been ringing off the hook to come back and "Deck the Halls" for the Holidays once again this year! We are filled with Santa's ever jolly "Ho! Ho! Ho!"

If you have not arranged for us to return as of yet ~ do so now ~ for our schedule is getting tight, particularly this next week and we are still taking design assignments through the third week of December! Enjoy a few peeks above of work we have done in the past!

~ A few thoughts on our Holiday Decor Process ~
To add consistency throughout your home with your holiday decor ~ I suggest repeating colors, themes, and decorating elements you adore. If your choice is "red beaded fruit" for example, then use it on your front door wreath, on your stairway garland, on your Christmas tree, and in your centerpiece, and let's not forget the treasured fireplace mantle! I can hear the crackling fire now!

Use this principle of repetition for a color scheme, choice of ribbons, patterns, ornaments, and motifs. Repetition also means that you'll need to make, or purchase, enough of something to really make a statement. Collect elements over the years or make a commitment to buy 10 bolts of the "perfect" ribbons to get the look you want. Proportion - vary the size of the elements used in holiday decor. For example, decorate your tree with a mix of small, medium, and larger ornaments. Or, pair garlands in varying widths for more interest, or even mix light sizes on the tree. Use holiday nosegays to make a statement. One of my personal favorites!
